The 1st
Annual Southern California Mambo Conference will
be an event long remembered! The first of its kind anywhere, all aspects of salsa music
and dancing mambo will be covered and represented in this two day event held Saturday and
Sunday, August 25th and 26th, 2001 at the recently renovated South
Bay Dance Center in Lomita, California. The primary focus of the Conference is dancing On 2. With
that in mind those dancers from novice to advanced will evolve in their dancing to better
synchronize and become one with the rhythms in salsa music.
The Mambo weekend begins Friday, 24
August 01 at Sportsmen's
Lodge where the night starts with dance instruction on 2 and continues with Freddy Crespo y su Mambo Revue! The cover charge is reduced to $10 for all pre-paid
Mambo Conference attendees ($15 all others)!
At the Mambo Conference, over 25
workshops, each 1½ hours in duration, will cover topics ranging from: Salsa Music, Rhythm, Phrasing &
Timing (listening, dancing and feeling the Clave) to Dance Contest Choreography; the roots of salsa,
like Son, to Styling;
Cha Cha Cha to Casino Rueda; Mambo Fun-damentals to the technique of Precision Spins & Turns and much more! Three
levels of instruction (beginner, intermediate and advanced) will be presented
simultaneously by some of the most seasoned instructors
of the salsa/mambo genre.
On Saturday night Over 6,000 square
feet of dance floor space will be available for a live performance by Son y Clave. DJ Tony "El Tigueron" Gomez will be spinning records before,
during and after the live performance for social dancing and practicing the material
covered up to that point.
Don't miss the fun and education! Be
sure to guarantee your spot so register early! This event
will sell out!
