since 1973. Performance experience with Luigi Texidor, Grupo Bomba y Plena, Orquesta

As timbalero and drum set
artist with the seminal Cuban group, Los Van Van, Changuito helped set the stage for what
would be one of the major percussion innovations emanating from Cuba: the rhythm of Songo.

Drummer/percussionist
Victor Rendón is a sought-after New York City musician who is co-leader of The Latin
Jazz Orchestra and worked as sideman with Mongo Santamaria, Chico O'Farrill, Carlos
"Patato" Valdez, Ray Santos, Grupo Caribe, The Latin Jazz Coalition, The
"New" Xavier Cugat Orchestra and many others. As an author/transcriber,
Rendon's work has appeared in Modern Drummer, DRUM!, Percussive Notes, Music in
Motion Films, DCI Music Video, and Warner Bros Publications. He is author of The Art
of Timbales published by Music in Motion Films. Rendon also publishes his own
semi-annual magazine called the Latin Percussionist (www.latinpercussion.com).
Rendón, who holds a Bachelor of Music from The University of North Texas, teaches
music in the New York Public School system and the Harbor Performing Arts Center,
East Harlem, New York.

Fay Roberts leads and plays
charanga-style flute in her own band, Orquesta Charangoa, recognized as LA's most elegant
and exciting Cuban dance Orchestra. Fay has been to Cuba twice to study charanga style
with Richard Egues (flutist of Orquesta Aragon, composer of El Bodeguero). She is also
classically trained and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from the University of
California at Santa Barbara She is also the music director at the Braille Institute in LA,
where she runs an intensive jazz studies program. Fay emphasizes improvisation,
rhythmic concepts and theory in her teaching and is an active member of the National Flute
Association.

David is an accomplished, versatile percussionist
whose various styles of playing include, but are not limited to, Pop, Jazz, R&B.
Latin, African, and Brazilian music. Whether playing with jazz trios, bands, or symphony
orchestras, David's personality and great sense of humor add to his creative and rhythmic
performance.
David's live performances have included: Earth, Wind & Fire (current); Tina Marie
(current); Poncho Sanchez; Vikki Carr; Coke Escovedo; Bongo Logic; Francisco Aguabella;
Candi Sosa; Andre Crouch and many others. David
also has had many TV and radio appearances like: Oprah Winfrey Show, Rosie O'Donnell Show,
VH-1's "Fairway to Heaven" and "Hard Rock Live," Sinbad's "70's
Soul Music Festival," Motown Live, Paul Rodriguez Show (house band).
Some of David's album/CD credits: Earth, Wind and Fire "In the Name of Love,"
Bongo Logic's "Bongolicious," Bobby Rodriguez' "A Latin-Jazz
Christmas," several Poncho Sanchez projects including the Grammy nominated "Bien
Sabroso," Karen Briggs' "Karen" as well as Shades of Jade's "Salsa
City."
David has also shared the stage with many of today's premiere artists such as: Santana,
Sheila E., Lenny Kravitz, Babatunde Olatunji, Strunz & Farah, Tito Puente; Celia Cruz,
Dave Valentin, Pete Escovedo and many others.
Along with performing live and doing sessions, David gives clinics, teaches privately and
is currently leading drum circles at The Covenant House (a residence for runaway
teenagers).

He studied music at York University and graduated with a BA. He has
studied with Cuban master drummers Changuito, Enrique Pla, Elio
Villatrantra, Emilio Vega De La Nuez, Roberto Vizcaiño Guillot, José
Eladio Amat Medina, José Miguel Meléndez, Cutumba and Los Muñequitos de
Matanzas. He has made several trips to Cuba and studied at the prestigious
Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana in addition to music schools in
Santiago and Guantanamo. He teaches Latin percussion privately and
conducts workshops. He is the author of Fun with Bongos/CD, The Bongo
Book/CD, Bongo Drumming: Beyond the Basics, and Afro-Latin Polyrhythms
(Mel Bay Publications Inc.) as well as several articles on Afro-Cuban
percussion including articles for Modern Drummer, Kalinda: Black Arts
Journal and LP Music Group On-line.

Internationally
known as a specialist in applying Afro-Caribbean rhythms to the drum set, Chuck Silverman has developed a style of learning and performing on the drum set to develop command and control of the instrument. Chuck has traveled all over the world teaching thousands of drummers not only about traditional Afro-Caribbean rhythms like Songo, Mambo, and Samba, but also sharing his ideas about developing a more creative approach
to learning the drum set by using these rhythms as a
rhythmic foundation.

Afro-Caribbean music and teaches both
privately and at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.
He has studied,
performed and recorded with many of the world's top musicians. Three of Chuck's books, Practical Applications 1, 2, and
3 have recently been named "all-time best drum books" by Modern Drummer, and his newest book/CD
project, Articles of Independence, is a compilation of his excellent articles over the past 12
years. His book together with Poncho Sanchez is due out in Spring, 2001.

well-known for his 1 and 2 week Drum/Music study trips to Cuba several times a year, under the mantle
of the non-governmental Eleggua Project to promote cultural and
academic exchange and

Gilberto Jose Marcano Torres of Caracas, Venezuela now resides in Los Angeles California.
His education and experience includes Sight singing, Flute (Piccolo and German Flute),
Harmony Counterpoint and orchestration; Jazz improvisation and analysis with Prof. Carlos
Rojas; Interpretation of Baroque music at the International Biennial of Baroque Music in
Merida with Prof. Phillipe Beausant. German flute studies and new Music at the Rhinische
Musikschule in cologne with Professors Spicker Noack and Wladimir Dimov. He has an
extensive jazz, classical and Latin performance background in South America, Europe and
the United States including: Concerts with: the Boston
Super Band and Tito Puente in Boston Massachusetts; Orchestra Fantacia of and in Boston,
Massachusetts; Concert in the 5th AV with Jaime Valles Latin Jazz band; and the
Universitarian Symphonic Orchestra (under the direction of Rene Rojas) at the Aula Magna
of the Universidad Central of Venezuela (Gilberto being one of the founding members of the
Orchestra).
Leader of Guapacha, a Venezuelan Band founded by Gilberto and specializing in Latin Jazz
and Fusion of Afro-Venezuelan Music, he conducts the group, is the flute player and
vocalist.
He has performed on stage with Los Angeles local Salsa groups like Son Mayor, Candi Sosa,
Charanga Cubana and with such notables as Justo Almario and Alex Acuna, Cachao, and
Albita.
Gilberto has recorded CD's with the Salsa band Abancay; l Malenbe (folkloric music); Grupo
Caracas; Grupo Sandungeros; Grupo Cimarron; Grupo Madera; Alan Phillip; Carlos Guedes;

influential numbers "Watusi" and "Latino" with Ray Barretto, performed
with Machito & His Afro-Cuban Orchestra and Mario Bauza, arranged and co-produced
recordings and projects with Alfredo (Chocolate) Armenteros, La India, Johnny Pacheco,
Victor Paz, Cachao, Son de la Loma, the Jimmy Bosch Orchestra and many others.
