2umbao 2sday Every
Week?
Prior to
opening on 11 Feb 03, I had been contemplating making
2umbao 2sday
a weekly event. Well, I was
encouraged by much. Phone calls, emails and personal statements from
enthusiasts to make a weekly West Side venue available for salsa
prompted me to seriously consider a more frequent promotion. What came next
made my decision cinched.
Our second installment of
2umbao 2sday
met with a rarity here in southern California: rain. A storm brewing in the
West Coast since Monday and believed to be an El Niņo proved to be seriously
difficult for most of L.A. motorists. I kept my fingers crossed and
hoped for the best. Amidst a slew of traffic accidents and choked
thoroughfares the likelihood of a virtual "ghost town" at the club was
imminent.
The class
started a little late but with over a dozen people. A good sign. We grew to
nearly twenty and others not taking the class started to filter into the
club.
By the
time the class was over and "Super" DJ Robby began spinning records we had
just under 40 people in attendance, most of which began dancing.
I have to
say that I am very pleased. Considering the inclement weather we wound up
with close to 70 people and closing a tad early (1:00AM). So it is with
satisfaction and joy to announce that I will continue
2umbao 2sdays
on a weekly basis beginning 18
Feb 03.
In the
meantime, take a look at some pictures below of this past
2umbao 2sday.
